Borobudur The Biggest Buddhist Temple from 9th Century
Borobudur is a Buddhist temple, located in Magelang, Central Java, was built by King Samaratungga, one of the kings of Old Mataram Kingdom, the descendant of Sailendra dynasty. The name Borobudur is a combination of words Bara and Budur. Bara from Sanskrit means complex temple or monastery. While Budur derived from the word Beduhur meaning above, so Borobudur means monastery on the hill. Meanwhile, according to other sources, Borobudur means a terraced mountain (budhara), while other sources say that Borobudur means monastery is located in a high place.
The base of Borobudur, called Kamadhatu, symbolizing man who still passionately attached. Four-level above called Rupadhatu symbolizing men that have been able to free himself from lust, but is still bound to the form and shape. Each level has a beautiful reliefs that shows how skillfully the author. Borobudur relief tells a story about a legend of Ramayana. One thing that is unique, that this temple appeared to have architecture with interesting format or mathematics structured. Part of each foot, the body and the head temple always has a comparison of 4:6:9. The placement of stupa also have distinctive meanings, plus part of relief were estimated connected with astronomy makes Borobudur is the evidence of history which interesting to be observed.

Have been to a lot of Buddhist temples in Asia, but never had the chance to go to Java. Would love to see this one in real life.
